What to Expect
Once you've decided which service you need and which editor if there's a preference, you'll head over to the contact page of our website and fill out the form. Once your form has been received, a member of the team will reach out to you via our email museandmargins.co@gmail.com. If you add us to your address book ahead of time, it will prevent our email from accidentally being sent to your spam folder. If you send a request for a sample edit, please allow 3-4 days for a response.

From there, if you decide to move forward with booking a service, we'll send you a contract, any pertinent forms to fill out, and schedule a meeting to discuss your project. The meeting can take place via video, voice, or text.
A 10% deposit is required at the time of contract signing but the remainder is not due until we have completed the service. If you opt for a payment plan, the first payment will be due 30 days after the return of your manuscript.

For a line and copy edit, expect in-line revisions and sentence restructuring. We will use track changes to show our suggested edits and utilize margin comments to explain our thought process for those suggestions.

Manuscript assessments will have in-line revisions in the first quarter of the book, as well as an editorial letter summarizing suggestions that might have the most impact. Because manuscript assessments are a lighter developmental edit, the bulk of the suggestions will be in the beginning of your book as a way to help you identify potential problem areas throughout and move into your own edits with a clear starting place.

Developmental editing involves two passes, in-line suggestions throughout the manuscript, an editorial letter, a book map, and character profiles. The editor and author will have the opportunity to discuss expectations and concerns via call or email both before and after the edit. Having a synopsis and short character list ready for the editor before work begins is preferred.

We'll check in with you once a week during the course of your project to let you know how it's going and answer any questions you might have.
